HAPPENINGS
OF 2010-2011 |
FIELD TRIPS Field trips planned for this year include going to the De Anza College Planetarium to learn about space, the mood and stars, visiting Christmas in the Park, the San Jose Museum of Art, Ulistac Natural Area, The Tech Museum of Innovation, and many others if we raise enough funds! |
WRITING We are going to write a lot of nice things this year! Each of us will end the school year knowing how to write a narrative, an informational report, a procedural menu, a response to literature, a letter, poetry, and other styles of writing. We will display some finished work Don Callejon's Young Authors' Faire for everyone to see, read, and comment on. |
SCIENCE I have many scientific experiments planned this year for more hands-on learning! We will make comet out of dry ice and dirt, see how a volcano works by creating one in class, grow salt crystals, grow a variety of plants, model the layers of the Earth out of clay, raise animals, create a water cycle, recycle, go into a space lab structure created by Ms. Le, watch videos about science, and do many other sensational scientific studies weekly! Be sure to visit our class' fabulous science area either in person or look for upcoming photo galleries of our science area and experiments on our website! |
MATH Math is going to be great because we have a lot of hands-on activities for our lessons. Kinesthetic learning is a great way to learn! Get ready to play a lot of math board games, partner games, and participate in group activities to create graphs, draw shapes, learn facts, and solve lots of math problems in a fun, interactive way! You will also have math worksheets in your homework for extra practice, too, of course. |
READING Reading is going to be better than ever this year because my goal is to excite you to love to read! And if you already love to read, all the better for you- I have more than 43 different book-bins to accommodate every reader's interest! |
