Trips and Assemblies for the 2010-2011 School Year
SEPTEMBER
- Carl's Jr. lunch and tour for the students: learning about community
partners and production lines.
OCTOBER - Monterey
Bay Aquarium: learning
how different animals adapt to their environment.
NOVEMBER - Ulistac
Natural Area: learning about preservation & history of this land,
endangered animals and animal traits.
DECEMBER - Christmas in
the Park in downtown San José - trees display and we will also
carol/sing on stage: theater and language standards.
JANUARY -Mr. Don Callejon
will come into our class to talk about his ancestors and his life in the
Silicon Valley while growing up: Santa Clara timeline standard.
Assembly and
fashion show for Lunar New Year (Year of the Rabbit) put on by out class:
social studies, cultural awareness standards.
FEBRUARY - The
Tech Museum of Innovation: science and math standards.
MARCH
- De Anza College's Planetarium: learn about space, the moon and stars.
BONUS WEEKEND FIELDTRIP to the Hidden Villa farm for families who can meet us there!
A form will give more details and a survey about the best date.
APRIL - Pet Week: bringing in guest
visitors instead of traveling out.
MAY - Baja Fresh for Cinco
de Mayo celebration & piñata fun on May
5th: social studies standards on cultural traditions.
JUNE - Jamba Juice field
trip: food pyramid, 5 fruits a day for health.
Assembly for
a Snow White play will be put on by our class on stage for the classes
who want to attend and for parents: theater standards and also literature
standards for fairy tales studies.
Learning does not only happen in the classroom environment...it is happening
all the time!
